I founded Ridgeway to create an environment conducive to capturing the magic of compound interest. I want to maximise the rate of return we deliver to clients. This is not something one is able to do in the confines of the working conditions that permeate the financial services industry.
James has been managing capital for private clients for twenty years. He began his City career at HSBC Investment Bank, then spent a decade at Rathbones before establishing Ridgeway Investment Management in 2017. James is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and holds their Diploma in Investment Management. He also has a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Theology from the University of Durham, a Masters degree in Finance from the London Business School, and is a graduate of the Value Investing program at Columbia Business School, established by Ben Graham and made famous by Warren Buffet.
In the year prior to establishing Ridgeway he cycled 6,500 miles around Europe, being one of only four amateur cyclists ever to ride the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, and Vuelta a España in the same year. James was raising funds to support the blood cancer charity Cure Leukaemia, of which he is a Patron. At the end of the Tour de France, James cycled to Calais, kayaked across the English Channel, and ran home to Westminster.
